Michael Vargas is an associate attorney in Tressler’s Government Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on the representation of Illinois municipalities, park districts, school districts and other units of local government in transactional matters. Michael has experience representing school districts in day-to-day employment and student-related matters including employee investigations, negotiating with various Unions, drafting and negotiating procurement contracts, student discipline and teacher discipline.
Additionally, Michael has counseled clients regarding the Open Meetings Act, Freedom of Information Act, Illinois School Student Records Act and new legislation.
While in law school, Michael served as an executive member of the Student Humanitarian Network, where he dedicated his time to service projects. During his time with the Student Humanitarian Network, Michael, along with the help of the other executives members, led a group of law students to New Orleans, where they volunteered their time to various pro bono projects.
