Practice Focus

Sayra V. Contreras is an associate attorney working in the HOA Practice Group. Sayra concentrates her practice in litigation with a focus on representing condominium associations and common interest community associations in areas such as rule enforcement, interpretation of governing documents, review and negotiation of contracts and collection of assessments.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Tressler, Sayra was an associate at a real estate firm handling several complex landlord-tenant disputes. 

During  her first year at John Marshall Law School, Sayra was 1 of 87 Peggy Browning fellowship recipients chosen nationwide. During her fellowship, Sayra worked at the Farmworker & Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP), a non-profit organization based in Chicago. Sayra also participated in the UIC John Marshall International Human Rights Clinic and worked as a law clerk at an insurance defense law firm. She earned the top-grade award in her Arbitration and Legal Writing classes. Upon graduation, Sayra was 1 of 6 law students from her graduating class who earned The National Order of Scribes award, which recognizes graduating law students who excel in legal writing.

Personal Life

Sayra is an avid long-distance runner. Her favorite running path is along Lake Michigan on North Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Sayra also loves to travel around the world. Thus far, Japan is her favorite!
