General Counsel Services to Governments

Tressler attorneys provide advice on procedure and decorum, compliance with the Open Meetings Act, FOIA and ethics laws, and otherwise assist boards as needed during meetings. We have drafted numerous opinions, ordinances, resolutions, code amendments, policies and all types of documents. We provide advice to staff on a wide range of issues, including finance, personnel, contracts and RFPs.

We regularly draft and negotiate a variety of contracts, including real estate, employment, construction, professional service and utility contracts, and, when necessary, we are ably skilled to litigate the same. We have also assisted with capital project implementation, including selecting of design/engineering professionals; preparing architect/engineer agreements; counseling and assisting with project implementation; and financing considerations.

We also have extensive experience in assisting our clients in establishing and maintaining working partnerships with other government entities, community groups and public-private partnerships. We have negotiated, drafted and implemented intergovernmental agreements for a wide variety of shared projects and programs. We have also assisted in establishing foundations and not-for-profit affiliated corporations to engage in fundraising and obtain donations.

In addition, our General Counsel Services include assisting local government clients through drafting, revising and evaluating risk management programs and procedures.
