Elizabeth F. Wagman Joins Tressler’s Government Practice Group
Chicago, IL, January 29, 2020 – Tressler LLP is pleased to welcome Elizabeth F. Wagman as senior counsel in the firm's Government Practice Group. Elizabeth brings a background to Tressler rooted in the application of both school and municipal law. Most recently, she served as the Director of Due Process and Mediation for Chicago Public Schools, a position covering approximately 400,000 students in 660 schools across Chicago. In this role, Elizabeth acted as lead legal counsel for all matters stemming from special education litigation and mediation. In her leadership role, she led her team to act proactively to decrease litigation and increase mechanisms to support schools in participating in early resolution, leading to a decrease in litigation costs and a preservation of the school community. Throughout her tenure at CPS, Elizabeth created and provided professional development to District-level administrators, principals, clinicians, school staff and parents.

In her earlier years of practice, Elizabeth worked for a Chicago-based boutique firm where she focused on Municipal and Education Law. She also clerked at several Chicago-area special education firms where she researched and wrote legal memos on subjects related to disability law, education law, and family law. Elizabeth received her B.A. from University of Wisconsin – Madison and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
