Honoring the Life of Patrick E. Maloney, Co-Founder of Tressler LLP
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick E. Maloney, Co-Founder of Tressler LLP.
Patrick E. Maloney of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully in his home in Palm Desert, CA on March 22, 2020 at the age of 74 following a courageous battle with a progressive neuromuscular disease that was likely ALS.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Irene (“Rene”) Ryan Maloney of Torrance, CA, and their two sons, Ryan Maloney of Chicago, IL and Brannen Maloney of Whistler, BC. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Maloney, Daniel Maloney, and Nancy Kelly. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Maloney.
Pat and Rene met in 1966 and married in 1972. Pat was deeply devoted to his family and raised his sons with great pride.
Pat was born and raised in the South Side of Chicago. He attended Brother Rice High School and proudly earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Notre Dame. He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football and the Chicago White Sox. Pat clerked for the Nevada Supreme Court before beginning his legal career at McKenna, Storer, Rowe, White & Farrug.
As a visionary in the field of law, Pat co-founded Tressler, Soderstrom, Maloney & Priess in Chicago in 1986. He was an extraordinary trial lawyer and his remarkable success was celebrated nationally. Pat was elected President of the Illinois Association of Defense Counsel as well as President of the Defense Research Institute during his impressive career. Today, Tressler LLP has offices in eight cities throughout the U.S. and has been serving clients for more than 33 years. Even after retiring, Pat remained a close supporter of the Firm and a superb mentor to many.
Pat enjoyed retirement and loved playing golf with Rene and his many friends at his homes in Lake Geneva, WI and Palm Desert, CA. Many will remember him by his sense of humor and passion for helping others.

The Maloney family would like to thank Dr. Samir Macwan, Caregiver Blanca Gonzales, Eisenhower Medical Center, and Mission Hospice for their excellent care as well as everyone who supported Pat throughout his life.
