Chicago, IL, October 25, 2021 – Tressler LLP is proud to announce a significant expansion to our national General Defense Litigation Practice Group. Attorneys Andrew Kopon Jr. and Colette L. Kopon have joined Tressler as partners and Julie A. Black, Taylor A. Brewer, Hilary M. Burger and Carter R. Frambes have joined as associates. This award-winning litigation team is now located in Tressler’s headquarters in Chicago’s famous Willis Tower. Andrew Kopon Jr. previously co-founded Kopon Airdo, LLC, and he has transitioned to Tressler with an impressive legal team and administrative staff, providing excellent continuity for his group’s current clients.

Andrew Kopon Jr. is a partner in Tressler’s General Defense Litigation Practice Group. His practice focuses on the handling of complex civil litigation matters, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He has tried high profile cases and has argued in federal and state appellate courts and the Illinois Supreme Court. Andrew’s trial practice is in a variety of areas and includes product liability, professional malpractice, employment law and insurance coverage matters. He was a founding partner of Kopon Airdo, LLC in Chicago.

Colette L. Kopon is a partner in Tressler’s General Defense Litigation Practice Group. She handles a range of complex civil litigation matters, including advising and defending clients in all aspects of employment disputes and litigation. Colette’s trial practice also includes internal investigations, crisis management, defamation, fraud, product liability, personal injury, class actions and insurance coverage matters. She represents clients in a variety of industries and not-for-profit ministries, including education, healthcare, retail and insurance.

Julie A. Black is an associate in Tressler's General Defense Litigation Practice Group. Julie focuses her practice on complex civil litigation matters, including healthcare litigation, premises liability and other tort matters. Julie moved her practice to Tressler in 2021 after many years at a Chicago-based litigation firm. Previously, Julie served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Cecilia A. Horan and the Honorable Michael F. Otto in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Julie also worked for several years in the healthcare field as an allied healthcare provider and consultant before attending law school.
Taylor A. Brewer

Taylor A. Brewer is an associate in Tressler's General Defense Litigation Practice Group. Taylor started his practice with a focus on construction injury, product liability, premises liability and automobile injury, with cases ranging from pre-litigation claims through appeal. He has since branched out to handling regulatory compliance matters, with a special focus on long-term care facility regulatory compliance. Taylor moved his practice to Tressler in 2021, building on years of experience handling legal matters ranging from regulatory compliance to trial and appellate litigation. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants and has worked on several multi-million dollar construction injury and product liability cases.

Hilary M. Burger is an associate in Tressler's General Defense Litigation Practice Group. Hilary focuses her practice on civil litigation, including employment disputes and tort matters. Previously, Hilary was a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Eve M. Reilly in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. In this position, she worked on a wide range of complex civil litigation cases, including issues of contract disputes, injunctive relief, administrative review, trust disputes, insurance coverage, fraud & misrepresentation matters, constitutional law, breach of fiduciary duty matters and derivative shareholder litigation.
Carter R. Frambes

Carter R. Frambes is an associate in Tressler's General Defense Litigation Practice Group. He focuses his practice in the areas of employment, personal injury and tort litigation. While in law school, Carter was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and served as the Executive Notes & Comments Editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review. He was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for earning the top grade in his class in five subjects including Torts, Employment Discrimination and Federal Courts. Upon his graduation from law school, Carter was inducted into the Chicago-Kent chapter of the Order of the Coif.
