William K. McVisk Appointed as DRI Regional Director
Tressler partner William K. McVisk has become DRI's new Regional Director for the North Central Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. For the past 30 years, Bill has been an active member of DRI and served on the Insurance Law Committee. He has been the DRI State Representative for Illinois since 2021. Before this position, Bill served as President of the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC). Tressler is proud to congratulate Bill on his distinguished service to the community and this venerable recognition.
Bill has been a staunch supporter of both DRI and IDC. In 2023, the IDC recognized Bill with the Distinguished Member Award. During the award presentation, IDC President Terry Fox commended Bill as "a perennial super-volunteer (who) has again distinguished himself as the ever-active liaison between DRI and IDC. We are proud to recognize him for his exceptional leadership, generous commitment of time and support of our endeavors and his devoted service to the defense bar.”
To become a DRI regional director, a person must advance through the leadership of their state or local defense organization. For Bill, his immense work with the IDC led him to this esteemed position within DRI.
Meet William K. McVisk
Bill has been a litigator and trial lawyer for more than 30 years and has focused his practice on representing insurers and insureds in insurance coverage and bad faith disputes and hospitals and nursing homes in medical negligence cases. He has also acted as general counsel for the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He has tried numerous serious cases, including insurance bad faith cases and personal injury cases with injuries as severe as brain damage and death. Bill has been selected to Illinois Super Lawyers® and Illinois Leading Lawyers® since 2019. He was selected by his peers in the 27th Edition (2021) and 29th Edition (2023) of The Best Lawyers in America© for Insurance Law and Insurance Litigation.
Bill was recently selected as the 2024 Lawyer of the Year for Chicago: Litigation - Insurance by U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers®.
