Adriana Bosco Obtains Dismissals with Prejudice in Defamation Cases in Cook County, Illinois
Tressler attorney Adriana Bosco represented a Defendant who was sued in two separate cases for comments posted on a social media site. In one of the cases, the Plaintiff sought to recover damages under defamation per se and false light invasion of privacy theories. Finding that the statements were not defamatory per se or highly offensive to a reasonable person, the court granted dismissal with prejudice in favor of the Defendant. In the other case, the Plaintiff sought to recover damages in a defamation per quod claim. The court found that the Plaintiff failed to establish the specialized damages necessary for a per quod claim and granted dismissal with prejudice in favor of the Defendant.
Congratulations, Adriana!
