Where are you from?
Morgan Hill, CA.
What was your first job?
I worked part-time retail at Banana Republic while in high school.
Do you have any hidden talents and/or unique hobbies?
I like to play lacrosse and I'm learning how to cross-stitch! I also love fishing with my dad even though we often don't catch anything.
What is on your bucket list?
This is going to sound weird, but I want to visit Canada! It looks so beautiful. My husband and I planned a trip for our anniversary, but then the pandemic happened.
Why did you decide to become an attorney?
Writing is my passion and I majored in creative writing with a non-fiction emphasis. With creative writing, you need to make your work as air-tight as possible so the reader cannot misconstrue anything or question any "holes" in the writing. My law classes while in college were so incredibly similar. I found myself using the same skills in my law papers to make my arguments as airtight as possible. I also thoroughly enjoyed all of my law classes in college and the practical nature of them.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
I've only worked remotely because of COVID-19. Thus, my typical workday has changed a bit. Generally, I make some coffee in the french press then head to work at my "office" at the kitchen table where I've set up double monitors.
Why did you choose your areas of practice?
In the past, I've gained experienced with insurance defense and civil litigation which is such a broad area. However, it allowed me to experience employment law from the employer-side and it was always interesting! Employment allows me to use my writing skills, whether it is drafting employee handbooks or preparing a detailed analysis of the causes of action. For insurance, I've always enjoyed the investigative nature of it.
What do you like most about Tressler?
I like the sense of community, which can be hard to find in the workplace. At Tressler, everyone is so incredibly nice and they truly care about your professional development as an attorney.
What are you most proud of, professionally and/or personally?
I'm most proud of passing the bar. I've had such a long journey filled with so many twists and turns along the way. The moment I passed the bar was the best moment of my life. If my husband reads this, our wedding was great too!
Are you currently doing any pro bono work?
For all my Orange County lawyers and judges, I highly recommend volunteering at Isaiah House the last Sunday of every month. On this day, lawyers and judges throughout Orange County gather at Isaiah House in Santa Ana, CA to cook and serve food to the homeless and those in need. I've been volunteering since my second year of law school and it's been a great experience! We also sometimes offer free legal services to the homeless at a set location typically announced at Isaiah House.
