Tressler LLP condemns racism in all its forms. Racism has denied minorities equity, prosperity and justice solely based on race, skin color, ancestry and/or national origin. Racism and police brutality towards the Black community has long impacted our country. We are reminded by the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless others that the legacy of systemic racism is felt everywhere—by our colleagues, our clients, our friends and our family members.

We stand in solidarity with the Black community. We support the peaceful protests throughout our communities. We acknowledge that we do not have all the answers at this time, but, as attorneys and officers of the Court, we are on the front lines to the justice systems that have so unfairly impacted the Black community. Our duty is to listen, learn and take action. Silence is not an option. Words alone ring hollow.

Our firm’s diverse workforce is essential to our ability to provide the highest quality of legal services and help dismantle racist policies and systems as well as advocate against injustice. We have always recognized the need for high-quality attorneys from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. The robust Tressler Diversity and Inclusion Committee will continue to actively combat racism. The below concrete actions are only the beginning:

  • All Tressler employees will receive training on implicit bias at the end of July; and
  • By the end of 2020, our attorneys will volunteer at least 100 pro bono hours to those in the Black community in need of legal services, and these hours will be credited towards our attorneys’ required billable hours.

Tressler stands united with the Black community and will continue to encourage dialogue, so that we can listen and learn from one another, better support our communities and provide a safe and supporting space to our Black colleagues, clients, friends and family members.
